I first encountered Copper-Wheel Engraving (a technique I still love) when I went to Edinburgh College of Art but it was long after I had left College that I found out about such glass making techniques as kiln forming, kiln-casting and sand-casting and began to experiment with them and look for ways of using them in combination. Wick, Caithness is now my home, a long way from Perthshire where I was born and brought up. I studied at Edinburgh College of Art, then taught art in Stirlingshire before joining Caithness Glass as an engraver and designer. I left Caithness Glass some years ago and have been working freelance ever since.
