Progamme Update Bulletin

update 18th september 2020

We’re still here, and we’d welcome your support!

For nearly 25 years North Lands Creative, housed in the small village of Lybster in Scotland’s beautiful Caithness coast, has been one of the world’s leading centres for artistic glass and creativity.

North Lands Creative campus is slowly re-opening, with reduced hours, and new protocols in place. Whilst the campus remains closed to the public please contact us for an appointment before coming to the studio or office.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused to our loyal studio users, artists, members and audiences. We trust you understand that this situation is out of our control. We will keep you updated as the situation progresses via social media and our website.

We look forward to welcoming you back to North Lands Creative soon!

update 24th june 2020

Our buildings have now been closed for fourteen weeks, you will understand the road to restarting the studio will need to be carefully planned  – essential safety checks, new procedures and systems.

We exist to connect people, so we’re still coming to terms with what this means for us as an organisation, as a team, and as a place that welcomes visitors and artists from around the world. We’ll be back as soon as we can and are already looking forward to the moment we can reopen our doors.  Unfortunately, at this time, we have decided that it is best to extend the cancellation of our programme through to the end of 2020.

For now our focus is on finding ways we can bring everything you love about North Lands Creative from our home in Lybster to yours, wherever you are. We’ll be launching this over the coming weeks and months on our digital channels and we would love for you to join us, so do keep checking our website.

Our first online event begins on the 3rd of July with the Glass, Meet the Future Festival. Meanwhile our staff are using the time for long-range projects, planning and maintenance.

All we need is a good image representing your work, a small piece of text (no more than 50 words) about your current work and/ or a comment on the glass community in your country. If you wish to be featured for a week you will need to send seven good quality images. Please include your social media details so we can tag you. We have been advised that social gatherings are likely to be restricted for sometime and social distancing measures unlikely to change soon. We would ask at this difficult time for people who have already booked a forum ticket to consider donating their payment to North Lands Creative or agree to their ticket being carried forward to next year. This will help us pay our freelance artists, technicians and contractors who will be adversely affected by our forum this year. Please contact if you have any enquiries.
