To support our 2020 educational programme North Lands Creative is hosting an auction of works by NLC Associated Artist’s & Engravers.
We have an outstanding selection of engraved glass works by NLC Associated Artitsts’, Denis Mann, Pavlína Čambalová, Granite Calimpong, Kristel Britcher and Vicky Higginson.
This auction will support Artist Scholarship opportunities for the Master class “A Vocabulary of Glass Engraving” led by award winning Czech Glass Engraver and Artist Pavlína Čambalová.
The Czech Republic holds an essential and deep-rooted place in the modern history of glassmaking. Czech Glass continually brings forward new technologies and exciting artistic approaches to the craft of glass engraving. Pavlina’s work is Inspired by the nature and form everyday events. Exploring possibilities to express the subtle nuances and atmosphere of the inner world, focusing on the experimental exploration of the glass engraving technique.
As a centre of excellence dedicated to the study of glass as an Art Form, North Lands Creative continuously recognises glass engraving as a vastly important concept in the world of applied arts. Continually pushing the boundaries of creative exploration, North Lands Creative and The Borgie Forest Cabin Project brought artists out of the studio and into the wilderness for the “Forest of Glass” residency, led by Denis Mann. Working on experimental glass engraving techniques out on location, inspired by the wild and dramatic landscape of the North Highlands.
A founder member of North Lands Creative, Denis Mann is a corner stone in the history of the organisation. A highly celebrated Glass Engraver, Denis’ belief in education and the pursuit of brilliance in craftsmanship is echoed in the ethos that makes North Lands Creative the internationally recognised centre excellence it is today. Denis’ creative, conceptual and technical approach combine to tell a wonderful story with a rich and lively narrative. His attention to detail and master craftsmanship sets him apart as a unique Artist in both Caithness and on the world’s stage.
