Collect 2018 is an exhibition of work by Emma Baker (UK), Alan Horsley (UK), Anne Petters (Germany) and Silvia Levenson (Italy) exhibited at Collect, the leading international art fair for contemporary objects presented by the Crafts Council in London earlier this year. We attended with support from Go Global.
Beside new work by Emma Baker (UK) and Alan Horsley (UK), we are proud to exhibit work by Anne Petters (Germany), a multi-media artist with a strong background in glass, as well as work by Silvia Levenson (Italy) whose work has been exhibited around the world and is part of several public collections. Our showcase nestled proudly amongst 34 other high profile galleries from the UK and overseas.
Emma Baker first visited us on a Skills Class run by her university tutor James Maskrey, and has since returned several times most recently as Artist in Residence during our 20th Anniversary Year where she created ‘The Commemorative Collection’; eight mold blown Caithness Glass bowls with an artefact from each artistic director in each bowl.
Alan Horsley attended a Masterclass led by Jane Bruce and Bruno Romanelli in 2009 and recently returned this year as a Teaching Assistant on our Masterclass led by Annie Cattrell.
Anne Petters has visited us as an Artist in Residence in 2013 and is returning in 2018 to lead a Masterclass where she will introduce participants to a specific glass frit technique which translates the idea of intaglio printing into a sculptural kiln forming process.
Silvia Levenson first visited us in 2006 as a participant on a Masterclass, returning the following year to lead her own Masterclass. She will also be returning in 2018 to lead another Masterclass where she will lead participants in developing their own language using glass as a narrative medium.
