These 4 workshops allow participants to develop their own projects alongside contributing to the North Lands Creative Community Café tableware with guidance and demonstration from an experienced tutor and provides time to connect and be creative with others as part of a community.
Participants will be encouraged to explore a range of mould making press moulding, slip casting and a variety of finishing techniques to realise projects, utilizing tools and materials around them. This range of techniques is suitable to make both functional ceramic pieces as well as sculptural objects and is ideal for beginners and refreshers. Workshops are delivered through live demonstration, individual and group tuition, and guidance with additional material (including written teaching supports, recordings of demonstrations and sessions) available after each session additionally workshop can be undertaken individually.
Technical support from Kevin and North Lands Creative will be provided including the organisation of firing work. These 4 ceramic workshops are suitable for all levels of experience with materials, firings and tuition provided. Caithness Stoneware/ Clay Kitchen With Kevin Andrew Morris.

Press moulding: Introduction to press moulding (using slabs/coils) and slip casting using North Lands Creative Community Café tableware moulds . Introduction to slip decoration/finishing techniques (inlay, incising/graffito stencils, slip trailing, combing) marbling/ agateware.

Glazing/ finishing techniques: Review of natural materials gathered processing and used. Introduction to glaze decoration/finishing techniques Applying techniques to press moulded and slip cast work from previous weeks.
Suitable for all levels of experience, ages 12 +. Children under the age of 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
Each session will explore a range of techniques and processes, you can attend all of the sessions or as many as you wish but booking is required.
Refreshments will be available in the North Lands Creative Café – Fuse Kitchen.
Please wear suitable clothing and bring an apron, this is a messy workshop.
The sessions will run in the North Lands Creative Studio.

Initially undertaking Three Dimensional Design at Grays School of Art Morris went on to graduate with BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design in 2010 from The Glasgow School of Art. The physical and cultural landscape and environment he finds himself in is hugely important to his current work and development. Based in Aberdeen he is often referred to as a ‘Nomadic Ceramicist’ exhibiting his work nationally and internationally as well as working with a range of artists, institutions and on various public projects.
