The extraordinary sculptures of Ivana Sramkova are three-dimensional distillations of basic figurative forms, both animal and human. Reduced to their essence, each is described in a language of simple, geometric symbols.
After finishing her education at the Applied Arts College in Zelezny Brod in 1980, Ivana continued her study at the School of Applied Arts in Prague, where she was a member of Professor Stanislav Libensky’s prominent last class. Although mainly known for her works in glass, she is also deeply involved in painting, drawing and sculpture. Her work has been exhibited in Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States and is represented in many notable public collections.
