I have studied, worked and exhibited in the US, Ireland and Great Britain. In 2003 I graduated Master of Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone with award winning work. I have recently completed two public art works located on the banks of the River Tay. My practice has much to do with the external. Whenever possible I work outside, striving to pull energy from the elements into my work. I find it very exciting that the material I am currently working with ie. wood, also holds an energy. This energy will cause the work to continue to change, cracking and colouring with time. The current series of work flightlines is about traces. The traces are about that which is only just visible, for a fleeting second. These almost invisible traces are made tangible through these works. The works are made with elemental materials, fire and wood. When speaking about my own practice the elements of physicality, experience, transience and traces form the core of how I deal with an idea and create a work.
