NLC X Talking Out your glass PODCAST:
Krista Israel

‘Over the past 2.5 years Krista has found a new facet in her work. Like an alchemist she works on her project titled “Lapi Boli”. During a residency in Jingdezhen, the heart of the Chinese porcelain industry, she recognised a new possibility of throwing glass on the potter’s wheel. The title is a combination of the Chinese words for the ceramic throwing technique and glass.’

Helene Besancon, curator National Glass Museum, the Netherlands, Neues Glass #2&3, 2020

Each episode explores an individual’s personal and professional development along with their passion for working with glass. These conversations, hosted by Shawn Waggoner, Talking Out Your Glass podcast, were made possible with the support from our funding partners Creative Scotland and Creative Europe.

Krista Israel

Krista Israel is a Dutch based artist with a main focus on glass. Looking at her work it is like entering a story. The artworks are pleasing to eye but there is a layer of bittersweetness in everyone of them. Her works are in a realistic style, but it is not about the obvious reality. Krista is an artist who uses a broad variety of techniques, using the natural characteristics of glass to express her thoughts and reflections of the world and people and thus address the needs of our wellbeing. The combination of different techniques and her thoughts make her work complex and intriguing.
