Experimental, investigative, combinations of materials, are characteristics of the work of Marie-Louise Fransen. In her work with glass, she has developed a unique style with lampworking, which is expressed in organically shaped objects, ranging from playfully shaped glasses, candlesticks, to series of majestic crowns and dancing goddesses. She works with borocilicate glass, blown and fused, and combines with metals, semi-precious stones and stone. Marie-Louise studied flameworking on glass at museum of glass in Corning (USA) and glass blowing in Hasselt (Belgium) and has been working as a glass artist for more than 15 years. She has collaborated internationally with artists in South Africa and New Zealand. In South Africa she worked on objects with semi-precious stones and metal, in New Zealand on objects with semi-precious stones (jade), metal and leather.
