Liz is a multidisciplinary artist exploring boundaries between analogue and digital making with an art practice that embraces sculpture, glass, puppetry, video and new media. Her glass and media installations have been exhibited nationally and internationally including the British Glass Biennale and the Coburg International Glass Prize. Her current practice-based doctoral research at the University of Sunderland, Towards an Internet of glass things, explores traditional glass techniques and the use of microcontrollers to create animated objects which allude to narratives (global issues, biographical experience, microhistories, traditional tales). She seeks audience engagement through animacy, storytelling, playfulness, and interactivity, drawing the viewer in through time-based media and real time interactions.
