I am a glass artist based in Bergen, Norway. I was raised and educated in Slovakia and received my MFA in 2017 from Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, SK. During my studies I was drawn to Scandinavia and was extremely fortunate to study Metal at Høgskolen i Sørøst Norge, Rauland, Norway and glass and ceramic design at Häme University of Applied Sciences, Hämeenlinna, Finland. During these opportunities I fell in love with the Norwegian landscape of contrasts, craggy shores, pooling water, undulating and jutting mountains. To capture and interpret these impressions I use materials with varied and often contrasting properties. I am able to explore these forms, colors, and textures to evoke both the inviting and stark landscapes of Norway as well as the ethereal, and intricately beautiful forms of lightning. It was during my internship at S12 Galleri og Verksted, Bergen, I began this ongoing series of works that continues to this day and I have been fortunate to exhibit between others in Hempel Glasmuseum, Denmark, at the Glass Factory, Sweden, and in The Orava Gallery, Slovakia. In the Summer of 2019 I was an Emerging Artist in Residence at Pilchuck Glass School, USA, and I was able to fully integrate use of 3d modeling, cnc, and laser cutting into my practice by abstracting cartographic lines and creating 3 dimensional volumes that capture the essence of the place without being a direct representation.
