Since 1979, Nancy has been the owner/principal designer of Gong Glass Works where she designs and fabricates commissioned architectural and fine art glass projects for residential, commercial, institutional and public clients.
Her works reflect the spirit and energy of living things, inspired by the temperament of her Asian background in a modern voice. Though in depth research there is no doubt that Nancy’s commissioned artwork create a unique sense of place for her clients.
Nancy’s artistic mission is to make a connection to the organic nature of our human spirit and the built environment for meaningful experiences.Nancy is an Honorary AIANYS Member, Honorary Member and Affiliate Member of AIA Rochester.
She is an active member of the American Glass Guild, Society of American Mosaic Artists, Glass Art Society, and Stained Glass Association of America.
Her works can be found in the libraries at Corning Museum of Glass’s Rakow Research Library, Museum of Arts & Design, and National Museum of Women in the Arts. And she frequently visits the Corning Museum of Glass.
Her award winning architectural art glass projects can be seen at The Rochester Museum and Science Center, Al Sigl Center, the Port of Rochester, ARTWalk of Rochester Inc., Rochester Institute of Technology, State of Vermont, University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business, Strong Memorial and Rochester General Hospitals, Unity Health, Beckoning Path Tai Chi Retreat.
She is currently working on an artistic donor wall for the new exterior facade of the historic Akron Civic Theatre.
Her collaborative architectural projects have earned the 2017 New York Chapter of the Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Merit Award of Achievement in the Built Design, the AIA Rochester 2010 Design Excellence Merit Award, AIA Rochester, and 2011 Design Excellence Award- Merit Award and contributed to LEED Platinum designation by the U.S. Green Building Council.
She is also recipient of several Best of Show, First Place and Merit awards at various juried Fine craft shows.
Her works have been profiled in over 20 professional publications including; Stained Glass and Art Glass Magazines, Interiors & Sources, The Design Journal of Korea, Builder/Architect Magazine, AmericanStyle Magazine, and Guild Sourcebook of Architectural & Interior Art, Art Glass Today 2, Contemporary Crafts for the Home and numerous times in Glass Art Today.
Published materials is also housed by Rakow Library of the Corning Museum of Glass, Museum of Arts & Design, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Memorial Art Gallery of Rochester, Rundel Library of Rochester.Nancy is dedicated to designing glass artwork as well as promoting education, awareness and appreciation of architectural art glass, through the use of her social media and that of the American Glass Guild. She continues to add to her knowledge, expanding her visions through intensive learning opportunities and by welcoming collaboration with architects to resolve design issues while adding soul to the built environment through the beauty of contemporary art glass in architecture.
