Synopsis

To the rhythm of a breath, a child in a wooden frame floats between dream and reality inside a bubble of blown glass. The scene, taken in a single sequence shot, provides a double vision effect when animated by 2 glass cylinders.
This video inspired by the lockdown of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, is part of Michèle Lapointe’s body of work entitled Contes muets et non-dits sous verre/ Mute and Unspoken Tales Under Glass.)

ARTIST STATEMENT
Michèle Lapointe

Michèle Lapointe, glass artist, lives in Montreal (Canada). Glass is omnipresent in her public art works as well as in her gallery installations. Her artistic approach revolves around the passing of time, memory, and the fragility of children. In her body of work Mute Tales, she pursues a journey between the imaginary world of children’s stories and that of human distress. She has participated in more than 100 exhibitions and her creations can be found in many public collections, including those of the MBAM, MNBAQ, CCGG in Canada and MusVerre in France. Since 1989, she is teaching at Espace VERRE.
