GLASS MEET THE FUTURE FILM FESTIVAL 2021

20 march 2021 - 04 april 2021

Synopsis

‘Lockdown’ 1min 27secs
A window. Enabling a form of engagement with the environment outside but also keeping us inside and isolated from each other, disengaged from our lives during the Covid pandemic lockdown.
We hear loud, sporadic, indecipherable sounds.
Strange shapes fall from above the frame and bounce off the window ledge.
Glimpses of an outside.
Finally we see that the falling shapes are cut up pieces of film, lying stacked up, unused and silent against the windowpane.
The sound of scissors hastily thrown down on the window sill.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Anne Brodie

My initial biological science and material based background at the RCA (ceramics and glass) has informed a process driven, multi discipline arts practice often working collaboratively with biomedical practitioners and climate / data scientists.
Influenced by key artists residencies in isolated polar regions, my practice has evolved from an inquiry into the meeting point of materials, towards a deeper inquiry into the nature of boundary and the interface between psychological and extreme physical environments.
Film and photography have remained fundamental throughout my practice and continue to inform my current work. www.annebrodie.com
