Alina Orlov (b.1990), lives and works in Chicago, USA and Tel Aviv, Israel. She holds a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA (2020) and BFA with honors from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, Israel (2015), and participated in student exchange at Slade School of Fine Art, London, UK (2014). Selected solo and group shows include ‘Forest of Ornaments’, [solo show] Sullivan galleries, Chicago, USA (2019), ‘Ballroom’, [solo show] Rosenfeld gallery, Tel Aviv, Israel, (2019), ‘An Accident is Never Over׳, [group show] Zhou B Art Center, Chicago, USA (2018), ‘New Blood’, [performance festival] Links hall, Chicago, USA (2018), ‘J’accuse’, [solo exhibition] Artim gallery, Yarat Contemporary Art Space, Baku, Azerbaijan. Sculpture and video installations draw on performance and filmmaking traditions and tackle gender, performativity and sexuality. Using her body as both subject and agent, these works present naked and seductive alter egos who channel a seemingly vulnerable hyper-intimacy.
