Born in Canada, Michèle Oberdieck has lived in Britain for nearly two decades, training as a textile designer at Glasgow School of Art, and later running a printed textile practice in London. Recently completing an MA in Glass at The Royal College of Art, Oberdieck found a new passion in blown glass: it’s amorphous state, being both malleable, and solid. Focusing on colour merging and surface texture, she became fascinated with the effects created by interweaving cut patterns with light and shadow.
She exhibits internationally, and sells across the USA, Italy, Japan, and South Korea. In 2019 she was invited to exhibit at Venice Glass Week and was selected to be one of the 50 international artists at the Ireland Glass Biennale.
