Linda has worked as an artist for 35 years. She is interested in the genius loci of the landscape of Wales, where she lives and her work investigates aspects of the culture, language, science, archaeology and natural history underpinning the landscape. She is interested in the dichotomies which arise when making contemporary artwork using traditional methods. As a result, her practice embraces a range of media, including glass, paint, photography and ceramics.
For her work in glass Linda has won a number of international awards including the Warm Glass Prize and the Adrian Henri Poetry in Art Prize (2012). Her work has been selected twice for The British Glass Biennale and in collaboration with Rachel Phillips she has undertaken a number of major architectural commissions including, most recently, making stained glass windows for Beaumaris Castle in North Wales and Blewbury Church in Oxfordshire. Linda and Rachel have a creative partnership called Studio Melyn which is based in North Pembrokeshire.
