ARTIST BIO
INGUNA AUDERE

Inguna Audere is active in glass art already for 25 years. She is currently a professor in department of Glass Art at Art Academy of Latvia in Riga where has been engaged from the year 2000. She has founded and led the Glass Art and Study Centre in Riga and for twelve years headed the Department of Glass Art. In 2015 she obtained her scientific doctor’s degree studying the development of the Latvian contemporary glass art in the global context. In MA level she teaches contemporary approach in making art where glass plays significant role. In collaboration with local and artists from abroad she has developed idea to include in study program international multidisciplinary courses based on performance art in combination with other art disciplines. To improve the collaborative and crossdisciplinarity aspects in the arts and education she has founded the international nonprofit organization “IRMA Collaborative” 

 

Recent exhibitions – Group exhibition “Sculpture/Ceramics/Glass” at Liepaja Art museum, Latvia; Selected works in “World glass art in Ukraine: 1989-2016” in National museum of Decorative arts in Kiev, Ukraine; 13th International Glass symposium (IGS) in Novy Bor, Czech Republic; group exhibition “Lyrical Transformations” in Levant gallery, Shanghai, China. ”European Glass context 2016”, International juried exhibition at the Bornholm Art Museum, Denmark. 

 

Inguna Audere regularly participates in local glass art group exhibitions and projects throughout the Latvia, Baltic and abroad. In her personal show “Above” in Adazi Culture center she collaborated with traditional dance group where she made a multimedia project. Inguna Audere is one of the curators for “European Glass Context 2021” project in Denmark and is involved in curating the exhibition “Voice of Glass Collaborative”, which will take place in Latvian National Art museum exhibition hall Rigas Birza in2021.
