Bibi Smit (1965) graduated with a Bachelor of Art (honours) from the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham, England. She was a glassblowing assistent to Willem Heesen in Leerdam, Holland and trained at Lindean Mill Glass in Galashiels, Scotland. She has lectured at the Edinburgh College of Art and Sunderland University, as well as other glass centres in Europe.
After initially setting up her glass studio in the Scottish Borders, she has now settled in Loosdrecht, The Netherlands, where she has her own glassblowing workshop. There she creates unique pieces for exhibitions and commissions, and also functional pieces such as drinking glasses. Her glass art has been included in many public and private collections.
